Many of us live their lives for materialistic things to make us happy, including me. We sometimes don't even realize that we are doing this. Some feel that maybe it will fill that void they may feel. "If i buy this it will make me happy."For how long, with this fill that void? this object usually makes someone happy for a day maybe a week, and even spending an outragious amount for it. Then it is just tossed in a closet and never seen again. I have definitely done this. Now, looking back i'm thinking to myself "really Becky"? "what in the world was I thinking"
During my devotional today I came across this quote that really hit home for me. This quote now is on sticky note on my mirror in the bathroom. To help remind myself that true happieness is not found in items. This is not going to fill that empty space that you may have, at least not for long. I also have to keep in the back of my mind , that when we die these nice fancy things are not going with me. Happiness isn't found in a store. It is found in accepting , and really loving the beautiful life that God has already given you. God has blessed this earth with so many beautiful "objects" already.
There is so much beauty and happiness all around us. family, friends, this beautiful creation we use and abuse on a daily basis. Its spending time with the ones that you love, and enjoying the small things in life that truly make us happy. Sometimes we forget what is right in front of us.
now for the quote:
"Happy is the man who wants what he has." As long as you are focusing on what you don't have, you'll be unhappy.
God is good!!
